In Memoriam-Honor Page

Many of you read or heard about what happened to Roo. We started talking about a Roo fund or a Roo memorial page and then a friend passed away and his family wanted his friends and their family to make donations to the rescue instead of giving them flowers.  So to honor those who have passed away or those who are still living but have made an impact on your life we I have decided to make a memoriam/in honor page for anyone wanting to make a donation in honor or memory of a loved one– whether it have 2 legs or 4.  Click HERE to go to our In Honor-Memory page.

Media Stories

I want to thank all the internet, television, and radio outlets that have done stories on us!!!  Without their attention nobody would know who we are or what we do!!  So a heartfelt thank you goes out to all the media personnel who have done stories on us and our dogs!!

Channel 7 has done quite a bit of media on our dogs— first with Cupcake and even a follow up story and recently they followed our little guy Frankie’s healing and adoption progress– with one of their own staff members being the adopter!!! They have always proven very rescue friendly — so we have to love and thank Channel 7 for everything they have done to help rescues!!!!

We also love our good friend Sunny Ares— we always have our disagreements, of course what friends don’t, however we always come to the same conclusion– that pitts get a bad rap and how important it is for the media and rescue to work together to help these misunderstood babies!!

Recently Sunny came out and video taped us working with a couple of our dogs who had come in from a starvation case.  She was here to watch and tape the first part of their rehabilitation process in dealing with food aggression.  Me and the girls have dealt with problem dogs before and never recommend the public trying this stuff themselves— we always recommend they hire a professional that is very experienced in dealing with problem behaviors (Custom K9 Performance is our trainer of choice).

The other day we did a follow up to that story with what has happened to our boys Magnum, Ruger, and Spankey and Sunny also surprised us with a Pit bull video showing the girls when they were very young and we were volunteering at the local shelter doing their photos for the internet (this time spent at that shelter really showed us the love pit bulls really hold in their hearts for people) and it also shows some of the dogs who have found homes through Almost Home NM— I really loved watching this video and think you will too!!!  We are very happy to now be on 575 magazine with some of our dogs and thank them to no end for having us on their show and really promoting rescue animals!!  It is great to know they are sooo rescue friendly!!!!  Take a look your dog might be on there!!!

CALENDARS

We are still accepting photos for our calendar we are hoping to get out for 2011.  We are having a photo contest to decide which photos will be in our calendar.  We will be accepting photos though mid September 2010.

We are asking for your best pet photos – it will be $5 donation per photo submitted.  Just email us at adopt@q.com if you would like to submit a photo.

The photos must not be photo shopped, edited, or made into a smaller size. They must be full size photos at the highest resolution possibly– photos that can not be printed to an 8 X 10 sheet without becoming distorted will not be put into the calendar.

An email will be sent out at the end of September 2010 asking which 12 photos you think should be in the calendar.  The photos with the most votes will be put in the calendar and the owner will receive a free calendar. You can click on the calendar to your right to see the photos already submitted.

Survivors!!

These babies couldn't be adopted the way they were from the shelter they were at.  We are providing the medical and rehabilitation they need so they can get their second chance at happiness and love. These are societies outcasts (the injured and scared) -- the "unadoptables" that no one sees and therefore would eventually have to be "put down” if a rescue didn't come forward for them.  Once we met them we couldn't leave them behind- we are hoping that after you read their stories and look at their photos you too will want to help them.

We know money is tight right now but any little bit you can give will help us continue rescuing the special babies that need rescues more than anything else so they can have a second chance at happiness.  Please help us help these little guys that needed a second chance at happiness.

Please keep all these babies in your thought and prayers that they make a full recovery. You can click on each of their photos to go to their webpage and read their stories.  Their progress will be posted on our blog page.

Update: Kebbles, Milo, and Cloudy are doing great and healing like they should.  However, our beautiful little Mary has made her way to the Rainbow Bridge.
